We spend hours of our lives doing laundry. The washing. The drying. The folding. The ironing. Wouldn’t it be lovely to do all that work in a relaxing sophisticated niche?
Consider the idea of rich colors for the laundry. Of course, white will always feel fresh, but ponder a rich red, brilliant blue or serene green space. More and more, homeowners are extending the décor of the entire home into utilitarian spaces such as bathrooms and laundry rooms. Bringing in a stunning backsplash (perhaps stainless steel or gorgeous ethnic tiles) can completely transform the room.
We know that there is no such thing as too much storage, and the laundry rooms of 2015 have it in spades. Pull out ironing boards, flat or hanging drying racks, folding tables that tuck away when not in use, and cubbies, drawers and cabinets abound. There is truly a place for everything.
When possible, natural light simply brings a laundry room to life. No longer cave-like, but a sunny spot to work, a well-lit laundry room makes the work seem less like drudgery and more like a delightful diversion.
For an over the top laundry space consider luxurious touches such as a dog washing area, gift wrap station or high end materials such as granite countertops or designer wallpaper.
