The Cherry Blossom Festival begins in D.C. today and runs through April 14th. As Washingtonians, it’s a particularly special time of year. The traffic increases as does the tourism level, which can be difficult, but I don’t believe any of us tire of seeing the beautiful, delicate flowers on Washington’s beloved trees. We run or bike along the tidal basin, pack picnics, or take the family for photo opportunities; it’s our way to herald in spring.
Experiencing these beauties in full bloom can be elusive though. Date ranges are given, predicting peak times. Even with educated guesses being made, unexpectedly high winds, rain, or cold snaps can affect the accuracy of full bloom potential for these Washington, D.C. trees. This year the date range is March 26-30.
Some love these trees so much, they bring them indoors, incorporating their beauty in design projects. Enjoy these images of three cherry blossom-inpsired decor ideas, and enjoy this special springtime tree.
