Last year’s choice from Benjamin Moore Paints for their Color of the Year seemed in line with many other manufacturer’s choices – most were trending toward neutrals and whites – and Benjamin Moore’s choice of Simply White was no exception.
This year, though, the paint manufacturer took a decidedly different approach in selecting Shadow – a deep purple color as their Color of the Year. Shadow is at the top of the palette, followed by 21 additional jewel-toned shades in this year’s color palette from the New Jersey based paint company.
Shadow lives up to its name, playing different roles in different light.
Ellen O’Neill gave a bit of insight into the selection in an interview with Architectural Digest in October 2016.
It is a little bit rock and roll. It’s the color of the galaxy but also the color of a beautiful fig. It’s passion, it’s bravery, but it’s also silence. It can be electrified or softened. That’s what I like about it—it’s versatile.
